Description

Soft X-ray spectra of highly charged argon ions have been obtained in single shots from a plasma focus driven with admixtures of argon in deuterium. The simultaneous observation of the He-like resonance line He- and the Li-, Be- and B-like n=2 satellite indicate rather low bulk electron temperatures and beam fractions of the order of 10-2. Estimated electron beam energies of some keV are rather moderate and near the threshold for the ionisation of He-like argon ions. (author)
