The relation between the prompt gamma-ray yields from fission fragments and the charge and mass distribution in 235U(nres,f) reaction

Description
Prompt γ-ray yields of primary fission fragments of 235U were measured. On the basis of γ-ray emission yields from all neutron resonances between 1 and 36eV independent yields of light and heavy fission fragments as a function of A and Z were determined. Good agreement between γ-rays yields and independent yields of fission fragments was observed. The variance of the isobaric Z-distribution σZ2 was found to be (0.42 ± 0.02). The odd-even effect δ for protons and neutrons was determined to be equal to (35.7 ± 2.1)% and (6.8 ± 5.2)%, respectively. Both values depend on the nuclear charge and neutron number of fragments. Results make possible to use prompt γ-rays for the study of independent yields of fission fragments
