Description

The work describes the study of the deposition potential dependent optical properties of CdTe thin films synthesized by pulse electrodeposition method. CdTe is an important semiconducting material and thin films of CdTe have applications in solar cells, in electro-optical modulators and in detection of nuclear radiations, x-rays, γ-rays etc. The thin films of CdTe were deposited on brass substrate at room temperature and pressure at different deposition potentials. Cadmium chloride and tellurium dioxide were used as cadmium and tellurium sources. The prepared films were characterized by Scanning electron microscopy and UV-visible spectroscopy. The surface of the films is uniformly covered with the flakes like morphology of grains of CdTe. The Optical band gap increases with increase in depositional potential. (author)
