Description

A Monte Carlo calculation has been developed to simulate the response of HgI2 detectors for X- and γ-ray detection. This calculation includes trapping of carriers and takes into account damage induced by detector fabrication. Results for γ energies ranging from 6 to 136 keV are presented. Our calculation is compared with other calculations already published, and with experimental data obtained with our own HgI2 detectors. (orig.)
