Description
Software has been developed to integrate the Panasonic Model 700 Series of manual, automatic and access-control thermoluminescent dosemetry (TLD) badge readers into a comprehensive data aquisition and reporting health physics computer system. Under continuous computer control to ensure no loss of data, element exposure and digitized glow curves from the photon and frequency counters are collected from the TLD readers and stored in databases with the capability of easy user-defined retrieval, searching, and editing. System routines incorporate procedures for the generation and database maintenance of element and machine correction factors. Plotting and graphics packages are available for the display of all quantities stored in databases. Exposures are transformed into reportable doses via user-configurable algorithms. Reports may then be communicated either to another computer containing a radiation exposure management system or to a collection of routines and databases in the same computer using the same database management facility. Depending upon the computer hardware chosen, the system can communicate simultaneously with multiple readers of different types. The system design is modular and menu-driven, so modifications are quite straight forward to effect and training time is minimized
