Performance of Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS) after Accreditation

The performance of flame atomic absorption spectrometry method on the proficiency test done by national accreditation Committee of Indonesia (KAN) has been tested. The program of proficiency test was implemented by determining Cr, Fe, Pb, and Mn content in KAN IX AL-A and KAN IX AL-B samples. The calibration of AAS instrument was done by using standard solution of Cu 2 ppm sensitivity and precision such as 0.019 ppm and 0.320 % respectively less than ASTM reference of 0.040 ppm and 1 %. The validation of method was done by recovery test with result % recovery of each element around of 100 %. Based on the results of calibration and validation showed that AAS instrument is still valid as an instrument test. Based on the evaluation of KAN showed that the content of Cr, Fe, Pb, and Mn in KAN IX AL-A and KAN IX AL-B samples are within the successful category. (author)
