Leukemic iris infiltration
Description
Description of a 4 year old girl with acute lymphatic leukeamia in total bone marrow remission, with infiltrations in iris and uveitis, complicated by hypopisn and raised intraocular pressure. A diagnostic paracentesis of the anterior chamber was performed with a cytologic diagnosis established. With radiation of the anterior segment of the eye the leukaemic infiltration of the iris, hypopion and glaucoma cleared. It appears that a barrier perhaps exists which does not allow for full penetration of the iris by cytostatics so that residual leukaemic cells remain after initial therapy
