Radiation chemistry of aqueous solutions of the hypoiodite ion
Description
Radiation chemistry of aqueous solutions of the hypoiodite ion has been describe in this article. The radiolysis of aqueous hypoiodite solution in the presence of nitrogen and nitrogen peroxide is of great interest to study the radiation chemistry in detail to establish a complete mechanism for their radiolytic decomposition. The yield for the disappearance of hypoiodite and that for the products iodate ion, oxygen were measured. The result obtained are good to give full support to the mechanism. (A.B.)
