Proposal for a protocol for the oral care of children under 15 with cancer at the Dijon University Hospital
Description
Whereas cancer is the leading cause of death for children under the age of 15, its incidence rate has stabilized in recent decades and there has been a considerable decline in infant mortality, mainly due to early diagnosis and management. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are the two main therapies used in children with cancer. The cytotoxicity of these therapies results in oral complications that will affect the oral and general health of young patients as well as their dental care needs. The multidisciplinary management of children in the pediatric oncology department must involve the dental surgeon in the prevention, stabilization and short and long-term management of oral complications. There is currently no oral care protocol for children hospitalized in pediatric oncology at Dijon University Hospital
Abstract (French)
(auteur)
