ON THE TOXICITY OF EXHAUST GASES OF DIESEL ENGINES AND THE WAYS OF ITS REDUCTION

The harmful impact of automobile transport on the environment and the human health is discussed. The sources and the concentrations of toxic substances in exhaust gases of internal combustion engines are described. The effect of the process of filling of cylinders on the power and toxic indices of the engine is considered. A new design of the air system is proposed. The system allows us to increase the mass of fresh air charge, to reduce the irregularity of filling of the cylinders and hence to reduce the specific fuel consumption and the fumes of exhaust gases.
