Value of computerized tomography in subarachnoid hemorrhage due to ruptured aneurysm

  • 1. Hospital Clinicoquirurgico ''Hermanos Ameijeiras'', La Habana (Cuba)

Description

Twenty-nine patients with diagnosis of subarachnoid hemorrhage due to ruptured aneurysm, were studied. Computerized axial tomography and cerebral panarteriography were performed to all of them. Blood in the subarachnoid space was demonstrated by CAT in 100% of the patients examined in the first five days and 23,5% in those examined within six and fourteen days. This study showed a direct relationship between blood expansion and incidence of vasospasm but not between the latter and degree of neurologic deficit. 22 refs
