Resistivity and magnetoresistance properties in polycrystalline Gd0.7Ca0.3Mn1-xCrxO3 (x=0.0-0.5)

Description

The resistivity and magnetoresistance (MR) of polycrystalline Gd0.7Ca0.3Mn1-xCrxO3 (x=0.0-0.5) have been investigated. The composites crystallize in orthorhombic structure with Pnma space group. The XRD studies indicate a change of structural differences with variation of doping concentration of Cr. In this work, we have tried to observe the characteristics of temperature dependent resistivity and magnetoresistance properties. The temperature dependent electrical resistivity (ρ) fulfills the Arrhenius like relation ρ)/T =pα exp (Eρ)/KBT) with activation energy (Ep) =156.4, 143.78, 147.06, 144.98, 144.06, 158.58 MeV respectively for Gd0.7Ca0.3Mn1-xCrxO3 (x=0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5). The magneto-resistance (MR) also vary with doping concentration of Cr and reaches -16.30%, - 18.80%, - 17.11 %, - 12.82%, - 11.28% Gd0.7Ca0.3Mn1-xCrxO3 (x=0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.5). (author)
