Some experiences and a programme of pulsed neutron utilization on condensed matter research
Description
Present paper describes some experiences using the Tohoku electron linac as a pulsed neutron source for condensed matter research. Several experiments which have already been achieved using our linac, especially on neutron scatterings from liquids and amorphous materials, cold and epithermal neutron scatterings, and studies on transient phenomena are shown to demonstrate the potentialities of the pulsed neutron source. A programme using a proton spallation source produced by the 500 MeV proton synchrotron at KEK as a next pulsed neutron source of the intermediate scale is also described. (auth.)
