Investigation of porous glasses by electron microscopy and microdiffraction

  • 1. AN SSSR, Leningrad (Russian Federation). Inst. Khimii Silikatov

Description

Using the methods of electron microscopy and microdiffraction the structure of porous glasses was studied. The glasses were prepared by through working of samples of two-phase glasses of the following composition (mol.%): Na2O -6.81, B2O3 - 20.9, Al2O3 - 0.29, SiO2 - 72.0. It is shown that along with amorphous phase in the samples of porous glass there are either crystal particles of silica (in porous glasses with anomalous light diffusion) or crystals of boric acid (in porous glasses with usual light diffusion). 7 refs., 5 figs
