2011 Annual Report: Project to combat the Tsetse fly and Trypanosomiasis in the Niayes

The procedure for obtaining an environmental discharge was initiated from 2010 onwards by the setting up of a protocol on the environmental impact assessment and the preparation of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) file. A public hearing was organized in August 2011 in Kayar to inform all stakeholders (local populations, administrative and local authorities, technical services, etc.) of the ins and outs of the Project and of the monitoring and mitigation plan of the environmental impacts advocated. The Ministry in charge of the Environment through the Directorate of Environment and Designated Establishments has overseen and validated the entire process which will be closed by the issuance of environmental discharge to the Project.
