Electronic structure and magnetic properties of titanium and tungsten carbides, doped by actinides

Description
Electronic and magnetic characteristics of light actinide additions (U, Np, Pu) in TiC and WC were investigated by self-consistent nonempirical zonal method. The obtained results enabled to explain qualitatively the difference in actinide solubility in TiC and WC. Values of local magnetic moment of substitution f-elements of additions were calculated, and the nature of their formation was established. 7 refs.; 3 figs.; 2 tabs
