Description

Complexes of the type Hg X2 L, where X=CI, Br, I, L=P(N Me)2)3 and Hg X2 L where L=Py3 P, are prepared. 1 H-(199 Hg) INDOR spectrum of Hg CI2 P(N Me2)3 indicate one phosphine ligand bonded to Hg(II). 199 Hg decoupling experiments on the I H spectrum of Hg CI2 2 P(N Me2)3 indicate two ligands bonded to Hg(II). 1 J(C2-31 P) in Hg X2 Py3 P increased relative to 1 J(C2-31 P) in the free ligand indicating the presence of a Hg-P bond.
