Supersymmetric versus standard model sources of lepton + jets + missing momentum events

Description
The cross section for anti pp->l(e,μ) + jets + missing momentum (p) with proper acceptance cuts at √s=540, 630 GeV and 2 TeV is determined for a wide class of supersymmetric (SUSY) theories (msub(W)>=manti q), and in the standard model (SM). The one-jet cross section is found to be dominated by SM, whereas the two-jet SUSY contributions are more prominent. An additional cut in the (lp) transverse mass almost eliminates the SM contributions. Interpretation of the UA2 collaboration events within SM or SUSY is studied. (orig.)
