Influence of alloying elements and structure on resistance to hydrogen embrittlement of structural steels

Description
Considered are possible mechanisms of hydrogen embrittlement and hydrogen sulphide cracking of steels and also the influence on tendency to hydrogen embrittlement and hydrogen sulphide cracking of loading conditions, medium acidness, alloying elements (Mo, Ti, V, Nb, Cr) and microstructure. The analysis of the given data shows that steels designed for exploitation in hydrosulphide media are recommended to be alloyed with chromium, molibdenum, vanadium, niobium, aluminium and copper. The low-alloyed steels with fine grained ferrite-perlite structure and alloyed steels with tempered sorbite have the highest resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and hydrogen sulphide cracking
