On the deterioration and improvement of on plasma confinement during additional heating in magnetic fusion traps

  • 1. Naka Fusion Establishment, Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute, Naka, Naka, Ibaraki (Japan)

Description

A simple physical picture indicates that the confinement time decreasing with the heating power should be deduced to the Bohm like diffusion and improving with plasma current in tokamaks should be deduced to the characteristics of Z pinch. The travelling type wave heating has a possibility to improve the confinement by the inward E→rfxB→ drift due to resonant electrons against the diffusive bulk electrons
