Chiral invariant lagrangian for quantum hadrodynamics

  • 1. Kossuth Lajos Tudomanyegyetem, Debrecen (Hungary). Dept. of Theoretical Physics

Description

A renormalizable, chiral invariant field theoretical model of hadronic interaction is proposed. The basic ingredients are the nucleons, the lightest (qanti q) type pseudoscalar and vector mesons and the lightest (qqanti qanti q) type scalar and axial-vector cryptoexotics. A lagrangian with [SUL(2) x SUR(2)]local x [UL(2) x UR(2)]global symmetry is constructed. The charged vector and axial-vector mesons are introduced as gauge fields and their masses are generated by the Higgs mechanism. A non-zero nucleon mass appears as a consequence of spontaneous symmetry breaking due to the self-interaction of the scalar and pseudoscalar fields. (orig.)
