Measurement of the M3/E2 mixing ratio of the 1173 keV γ-transition in 60Ni
- 1. Los Alamos Scientific Lab., NM (USA)
Description
The M3/E2 mixing ratio for the 1173 keV transition in 60Ni has been measured to be -0.0025 +- 0.0022 by observing the angular distribution of this radiation compared with that of the 1332 keV transition, both emitted following the beta decay of 60Co polarized in Fe. The use of the nuclear alignment technique for measuring small multiple mixing ratios is discussed and comparison is made with similar studies using γ-γ angular correlations. (orig.)
