Influence of particle fluxes from target on characteristics of intense electron beams

Description

Results of numerical simulations and measurements testify that electrons back-reflected from a target and ions emitted by a target plasma essentially influence the parameters of intense electron beams. Reflected electrons decrease the beam current density and change the distribution of energy absorbed in a target. Target ions change the spatial distribution of the beam current density. Thus, the influence of target electron and ion fluxes must be taken into account to understand the energy deposition characteristics of electron beams in target materials and to achieve radially uniform current densities at the target position

Abstract (Russian)

Результаты численного моделирования и измерений указывают на то, что электроны, отраженные от мишени, и ионы, испускаемые плазмой мишени, существенно влияют на параметры интенсивного электронного пучка. Отраженные электроны уменьшают плотность тока пучка и изменяют распределение энергии, поглощенной в мишени. Ионы из мишени изменяют распределение плотности тока пучка. Это должно учитываться при определении выделения энергии электронного пучка в мишени
