The delfin laser thermonuclear installation: Operational complex and future directions
Description
This chapter contains a brief survey of the LTF research conducted at the Lebedev Physics Institute over the last 25 years. The Delfin-1 neodymium laser thermonuclear installation is examined, and a consideration of research results and future developments of this installation supports further LTF research and the development of an experimental base for the next generation laser thermonuclear installations. An analysis of laser parameter requirements for LTF experiments at an energy level Elas=105 - 106 J indicates the possibility for using neodymium laser media for such applications
