Energy transition: communities all 'fire and flame' for biomass heat; La Defense chooses agri-pellets; Pyro-gasification: and biomass becomes gas

Creators

Description

As biomass heat attracts an increasing number of communities which are seduced by this absolutely local decarbonized and renewable energy, this file first addresses various aspects of this development, and notably the role of the ADEME's Heat Fund (its development, and also reluctances and popular beliefs). An article comments the case of La Defense (a Paris business district) which has chosen a new biomass-based fuel for its heat network: agri-pellets which are produced from local agricultural residues. The third article presents the use of pyro-gasification to valorise biomass for its energy. This process, developed by a company based in the Morbihan district, generates a synthesis gas which can be exploited for heat and electric power production, is carbon-negative, and could be an opportunity for communities to satisfy some of their energy needs
