Application of emission tomography to the study of solute concentration processes in PWR steam generators

  • 1. Berkeley Nuclear Laboratories (UK)
  • 2. AEA Industrial Technology, Harwell (UK)

Description

An experimental facility has been constructed for studies of solute concentration and corrosion processes in PWR steam generators. Radioactive tracer techniques are employed to monitor the accumulation and transport of solutes in test sections designed to simulate closely the phenomena occurring in crevices and sludge piles in plant. A sophisticated scanning system is capable of mapping the complete spatial distribution of these solutes. (author)
