Description
Whether it is an announcement or a real breakthrough, it is clear that all-solid-state lithium batteries are claimed to revolutionize the electrochemical storage of energy. In this article, the description of the technology is used to identify bottlenecks in terms of materials and electrochemical interfaces which govern charge carrier transfers between all components of the cell. The summary of main results obtained following a typical material sciences approach combining scientific and technologic aspects justifies selected materials and allows identifying advantages and disadvantages. The worldwide interest for this technology and recent advances allow being confident in the near future commercialization of all-solid-state batteries. (authors)
Abstract (French)
Simple effet d'annonce ou reelle rupture technologique, force est de constater que les batteries 'tout solide' semblent devoir revolutionner le stockage electrochimique de l'energie. A partir de la description de la technologie 'Li-metal tout solide', les contraintes en termes de materiaux et surtout d'interfaces electrochimiques controlant les transferts de charges entre les differents constituants sont presentees dans cet article. Le resume des principaux resultats obtenus par une approche sciences des materiaux combinant aspect scientifiques et technologiques permet de justifier les differentes familles de materiaux utilises et d'identifier leurs avantages et inconvenients. La dynamique autour de la thematique et les avancees deja realisees permettent de rester optimiste quant a l'arrivee prochaine de cette technologie sur le marcheAdditional details
