Cross sections for x-ray production by high energy alpha particles

Description
Experiments have been carried out to determine the K shell ionization cross sections for a wide range of elements using alpha particles in the energy range 30 to 80 MeV. The most recent set includes the elements Te, Ba, Nd, Gd, Tm, Ta, Au, and Pb. Results have been compared with Born approximation calculations, and previous data is compared with binary encounter model predictions. (3 figures) (U.S.)
