Study of composition variation by gamma ray scattering
- 1. Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar (India)
Description
Scattering studies of 59.54 keV gamma rays from KCl Brsub(1-X) mixed crystal samples have been made to demonstrate the potential use of the techniques as a non-destructive analytical tool for the study of composition variation in alloys and compounds. The present results on the ratio of Rayleigh to Compton scattering cross sections for different x-values are in good agreement with theory. A 1per cent change in the composition can be easily detected by the present spectrometer. Sensitivity of the method can be further improved by using a stronger source. (author)
