Characterization of sintered irons made with swarfs from sintered parts machining

Description

The objective of present work is the iron swarfs reusing as raw material to manufacture sintered parts. Particle size reduction using Horizontal attrition milling within iron dilution is the way used to get the raw materials. Two powder mixtures were obtained: Commercial Iron+50% milled swarfs, and the milling mixture of iron+50 %swarfs. After powder characterization, the powder mixtures were die pressing and sintering at 1150 degree centigrade during 30 min under N2-5%H atmosphere. Density and dimensional change were determined on sintered materials. Also mechanical properties were obtained. Influence on properties from Microstructure and powder sinter ability were analyzed.
