Direct production of helium negative ions from He(23S1) metastable state

Description
A new method has been developed for the production of the He- via single electron capture by He(23S1). It is very simple compared with the double charge exchange method which has been used in the past to prepare a beam of He- ions. A high yield of the He- can be obtained with this new method. (author)
