Structural integrity assessment of FBTR fuel pin due to fission gas release
Creators
- 1. ED and DS, Nuclear Fuels Group, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Fast reactor fuel elements are designed for high burnup and high fission gas release. These fuel pins encounter high pressure, high temperature, high neutron fluence and sodium environment. This demands high level of end plug weld integrity and hence the acceptance criteria for these welds are very stringent. The present paper works out the FEM analysis of the weld zone having different sizes of root-pockets for the pressure developed inside the pin due to fission gas release. (author)
