Description

Based on the results of part I on the homogeneous dynamo, the special problems of the earth's cose are treated here. A model experiment on convection in a rotating sphere confirms the theoretical results. Based on it a model of the geodynamo is developed. Further reflections on the geodynamo as well as on planetary dynamos follow. (orig./WL)

Abstract (German)

Aufbauend auf den Ergebnissen des Teiles I über den homogenen Dynamo, werden hier die besonderen Probleme des Erdkernes behandelt. Ein Modellversuch zur Konvektion in einer rotierenden Kugel bestätigt die theoretischen Ergebnisse. Darauf aufbauend, wird ein Modell des Geodynamos entwikkelt. Es folgen weitere Betrachtungen zum Geodynamo sowie zu planetarischen Dynamos.
