Direct processes in 2,9 MeV neutron scattering by Cr50, Cr54, Fe54, Zn64, Zn66 nuclei

Description
The experimental angular distribution of 2,9 MeV neutrons scattered on separated isotopes Cr50, Cr54, Fe54, Zn64, Zn66 were analysed on the basis of a generalized optical model. The potentials of the channel connections were calculated considering the vibrational nature of the low-lying levels of the target nucleus. The channels of the elastic and non-elastic scattering were taken into account in an explicit form. The calculated cross-sections of the elastic and non-elastic scattering were put together as sums of the potential scattering cross-sections and the scattering of the compound nucleus formation. The results from the computations are in accordance with the concept that the non-elastic scattering process of average-powered neutrons develops mainly through the compound nucleus formation. Anyway, in cases of strong connections of the channels, the straight non-elastic scattering can play a significant part: within the model described, the value of the integral cross-section of the potential scattering comes up to 20% of the section value of the activation the analysed nuclei have at the first level.
