Dipole states in the interacting boson model
Description
The structure of dipole states in nuclei is investigated within the framework of the interacting boson model by introducing an L = 1- (dipole) boson. The predictions of the model are compared with the standard surface quadrupole phonon techniques in 146Nd. Simple analytical results can be obtained in the rigid-rotor (SU(3)) limit of the IBM.
