Description
The ground state and superdeformed bands of even-even Er and Yb nuclei are studied in the framework of an analogous version of the simple model of backbending previously given by D. Bonatsos. In the present study, the simple model is reformulated in terms of the nuclear softness model for the ground state band and the rotational model for the superband. Furthermore, the constrained-Hartree-Bogolyubov treatment of the pairing-plus-quadrupole model has been utilized to discuss the dependence of the backbending phenomena on the pairing interactions of both neutron and proton.
