Aerodynamic characteristics of connecting piping for the accident localisation system for WWER 440 nuclear power plant
Description
The beyond design accident scenario supposing a guillotine rupture of the DN 500 mm main primary pipeline connecting the reactor vessel and the steam generator, leads to an extremely high outflow of mass and energy from the damage location into the hermetic zone in a very short period of time. The hermetic zone cannot handle the accident without exceeding the design pressure. A method is described, proposed by the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava to solve this problem. It is based on the design of a connecting pipeline installed between the hermetic zone and the retaining system condenser inlet. (Z.S.)
