On reactivity of fluorine and hydrogen fluoride

  • 1. Moskovskij Khimiko-Tekhnologicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

The reactivity of fluorine, halogen fluorides, and hydrogen fluoride is considered from the thermodynamic and kinetic standpoints for the case of the fluorination reaction. The kinetic characteristics of reactions of fluorination of oxides and oxo-fluorides of the following composition are discussed: UO2F2, MgUO4, CaUO4, SrUO4, BaUO4, NpO2, PuO2, NbO2F, MoO3, CaMoO4, WO3, CaWO4, UOsub(2.14), NaUO4, CaUO4, ZrO2, HfO2, Ta2O5, TaO2F, UO2, Nb2O5, TeO2, R4O2. The reagents are F2, HF, ClF3, BrF3, BrF5. A comparison of the fluorination rates has shown that at equal partial pressures of the reagents and at temperatures below 250-300 deg C the reactivity increases in the series of F2 < HF < IFsub(m), at 300-450 deg C HF < F2 < FFsub(m), and at temperatures above 450-6O0 deg C HF < FFsub(m) < F2
