Description
This is a brief review of some of the unexpected and important results of the planetary probe satellite Pioneer-Venus I launched on 4 th December 1978. The first results seem to contradict the presently widely held theory of planetary formation and are proving an embarrassment to theoreticians. (J.R.B.)
