Near-earth natural and weapon-generated radiation environments
Description
This report summarizes the quantitative aspects of the near-earth natural and nuclear weapon-enhanced radiation environments. Methods for quantifying these environments are provided. Total-dose calculations are given to illustrate the relative severity of the radiation environments as a function of shielding. Techniques for calculating the total dose in the interior of a satellite are described. The RAD-PAK concept for including radiation shielding as an integral part of an integrated circuit package is introduced. 36 refs., 21 figs
