Effect of xanthobin on the degree of γ-radiation-induced injury to DNA molecule

  • 1. Leningradskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR). Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Fizicheskij Inst.

Description

Exposure of DNA solutions to γ-rays in doses from 10 to 100 Gy elicits considerable changes in the volume and equilibrium hardness of the DNA molecule. When DNA was exposed in the presence of xanthobin (8-caffeine bromide) the observed changes markedly diminish. The extent of injury to the macromolecule decreases with increasing xanthobin concentration
