Concordia Micro-meteorites: From Antarctic snow to cometary ices
Description
In this report for an Accreditation to Supervise Researches (HDR), the author first discusses the role of meteorites as archives of the formation of the Solar system, and as artisans of life on Earth: presentation of ice collections (in Terre Adelie, and in snow with the Concordia programme), how a continuum is considered between asteroid and comet, and the emergence of exo-biology. She comments the use of Earth-based and space-based ionic microprobes (Orsay IMS, COSIMA in the Rosetta mission). Then, she presents the EPICA-Dome C experiment, and finally discusses research perspectives: search for cometary meteorites in the Concordia collection, study of extinguished radio-activities in micro-meteorites, exo-biology, unexpected dust levels in EPICA, the ROSETTA mission (COSIMA), and the Marco Polo mission (ILMA)
