Ceramics Al2O3-ZrO2 of powders produced by high speed solidification from melt

Description
Plant and method for production of ceramic powders by the method of high-speed solidification from melt (HSM) are described. Investigations of ceramics, sintered from these powders, of 70 mas. % Al2O3+30 mas. % [ZrO2+3 % (molar part) Y2O3] composition show, that its microstructure is characterized by high degree of homogeneity of phase distribution. Strength properties are equal to 900-1500 N/mm2. This is comparable with strength of ceramics of powders, produced by chemical methods. It is noted that quality of powders, produced by HSM method can be improved due to elevating the cooling rate, improving the dispersion process and decreasing impurity amount
