Description
Some new copolycarbonates consisting of bisphenol-A and ether derivatives, i.e. 2.2 [ Bis(3.5-dimethoxy methylene-4-hydroxy phenyl)] propane were synthesised in several different molar ratios by mixed homogeneous and interfacial polymerisation. The new momoers and copolyers were characterized by IR,NMR, MS spectroscopy, elemental analysis and moisture evolution analysis. The average molecular weights were determined by VPO and GPC. The thermal stability characteristics of the copolymers were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and thermogravimery(TG). The DSC meaurements showed that the glass-transition temperature of the copolymers depends upon the copolymer compostion. On other hand sereral thermal stability charcteristics of the copolymers were determined from TG thermograms i.e. activation energy, decomposition tempeature and rate of decompostion.
