Eigenvalues from recurrence relations

Description
A recently developed Zero Coefficient Method (ZCM) for calculating eigenvalues is applied to potentials of the form V(x) = v2x2 + v3x3 + v4x4. The cases of symmetric two-well (v3=0) and of asymmetric (v3≠0) oscillators are considered. The results are compared with those obtained by means of the Rayleigh-Ritz method and the modified operator method. No difference is observed in the accuracy of these methods and therefore ZCM is found to be most useful in obtaining the spectra of anharmonic oscillator models involving polynomial potentials. 2 tabs., 4 refs
