An instrument for measuring low activity sources emitting alpha and beta radiation using bisectional flow-type proportional counters

Description
For the measurement of low activity alpha and beta emitting isotope samples three types of bisectional flow-gas proportional counters were designed. These counters operate with gases accessible on home market (methane, propanebutane commercial mixture). An instrument equipped with these counters is characterized by low background (1 count/hour for alpha radiation, 3 counts/minute for beta radiation) and high detection efficiency (20% for C-14, 45% for K-40). The assembly weighs 34 kg. (author)
