Proceedings of the meeting on BSF future prospects - III

Description

This is the report of the third meeting on the future plan for booster-utilizing facilities, held for three days from March 1, 1984. In this meeting, the examination on a neutron scattering experiment facility and a muon experiment facility which correspond to the performance of an accelerator, and on which the examination advanced relatively in the previous meetings, was the main theme, and this examination of the future plan became serious. The outline of the GEMINI project utilizing the proton beam from the 500 MeV booster synchrotron for the 12 GeV proton accelerator in the National Laboratory for High Energy Physics, the technical problems of GEMINI and the countermeasures are described. The booster synchrotron meson facility (BOOM) at present and the proposal to create a super-BOOM and a kaon factory are reported. The way to realize the GEMINI project is discussed. The KENS-1' project, the technical problem of KENS-2 and the present status and future prospect of neutron scattering are reported by the Neutron Scattering Subcommittee. The super-BOOM project, the themes of nuclear physics and future meson science are reported by the Meson Science Subcommittee. (Kako, I.)
