Enthalpies of solution of lanthanide, yttrium and scandium trihalides in water and in non-aqueous solvents

Values are reported for the enthalpy of solution of ScCl3, YCl3, LaCl3, GdCl3, YbCl3, YBr3, LaBr3, YbBr3, ScI3, YI3, LaI3, and GdI3 in water, of ScCl3, YCl3, LaCl3, GdCl3, YbCl3, ScI3, YI3, LaI3 and GdI3 in methanol and in dimethyl sulphoxide, of LaCl3 in ethylene glycol, of GdCl3 in dimethylformamide, and of LaI3 in dimethylformamide, propylene carbonate, and ethanol. These values are related to earlier published values in similar systems, and are considered in relation to solvating properties for the cations and halide ions. (author)
