Method of hardening glues for the deposition of fibre or textile material on heat-sensitive surfaces by electron irradiation

Description

The invention proposes to harden glues used for deposing textile fibres or similar materials on heat-sensitive surfaces by electron irradiation (dose 2 megatad +- 50% energy 150 keV +- 30%). The flow rate should be 20-80 m/min. The fibre layer may be twice to 50 times as thick as the glue layer. A vinyl foil of 0.2032 mm onto which nylon flake fibres are glued with acrylepoxy glue, a vinyl wallpaper of 0.127 mm, and a styrol foil of 2.54 mm are presented as examples. (UWI)

Abstract (German)

Erfindungsgemaess wird vorgeschlagen, das Aushaerten von Klebemitteln, die zum Befestigen von Textilfasern oder aehnlichem Material auf hitzeempfindlichen Unterlagen dienen, mittels Elektronenbestrahlung (Dosis 2 Megarad +- 50%, Energie 150 KeV +- 30%) durchzufuehren. Die Durchlaufgeschwindigkeit soll 20-80 m/Minute betragen. Die Faserschicht kann 2 bis 50 Mal so stark sein wie die Klebeschicht. Als Beispiel sind eine 0,2032 mm starke Vinylfolienunterlage, auf der Nylonflockenfasern mit Acrylepoxid Kleber befestigt sind, eine 0,127 mm starke Vinyltapete sowie 2,54 mm starke Styrolfolien angegeben. Das Verfahren ist auch fuer Garne anwendbar. (UWI)
