Improvement of heat-resistant wide range monitoring neutron detector for HTTR

Description
The wide range monitoring neutron detector is a design product developed to be able to measure the thermal neutron flux appropriately under the high temperature environment unique to HTTR. However, this detector had the experiences of disconnection of internal junction part caused by thermal cycle in the past reactor operations. Based on the knowledge of the disconnection points and break mechanism already obtained, this project devised a structural modification plan to improve the heat resistance performance, determined the modification plan, demonstrated the performance through a mock-up test using a dummy, and thus succeeded in the development of a wide range monitoring neutron detector with improved performance. Furthermore, the fact that the structural change could be completed without changing the basic specifications of the existing detector that is the standard product has resulted in securing rationality from the viewpoint of cost and time required for verification. 広領域中性子検出器は、HTTR特有の高温環境下において熱中性子束を適切に計測できるように開発された設計品であるが、これまでの原子炉の運転において熱サイクルに起因した検出器内部接合部の断線に係る経験を有している。既に得られている断線箇所及び断線メカニズムの知見を踏まえ、耐熱性能を向上させるための構造変更案の立案、変更案の決定、模擬試験体を用いたモックアップ試験により実証をしたことで、耐熱性能を向上させた広領域中性子検出器を開発した。さらに、規格品である既存の検出器の基本仕様を変更せず構造変更を完遂できたことは、検証に要するコスト及び時間の観点から合理性を確保した成果を得ることができた。(著者)Additional details
